Year 4 pupils at Holyhead Primary Academy recently took part in an extraordinary learning opportunity, generously supported by Gartmore Riding School. This unique event combined science and careers education, providing pupils with an engaging, hands-on experience that brought their classroom studies to life in an exciting new way.
The programme offered pupils a chance to delve into the science of animal care and equestrian practices. Throughout the day, they explored topics such as animal biology, environmental stewardship, and the wide range of careers connected to working with animals. The atmosphere was alive with excitement and curiosity as pupils interacted directly with the riding school’s horses, learning about the science behind their care and well-being.
Natalie Shipley, Principal at Holyhead Primary Academy, commented: “This was truly an amazing opportunity for our pupils. Science and careers education delivered in such a meaningful and engaging way is something they’ll carry with them for years to come. Our children work hard in the classroom every day, and experiences like this bring their learning to life, broadening their horizons and showing them what’s possible in the world beyond school.
“We are immensely grateful to Gartmore Riding School for creating this unforgettable learning experience.”
This memorable day exemplifies the Academy’s commitment to enriching pupils’ education through real-world opportunities. The event left a lasting impression on both staff and pupils alike, inspiring everyone involved and highlighting the importance of innovative educational experiences both outside and inside the classroom.
